About the Role

ClearCourse, through its Swan Retail division, is seeking a commercially driven Business Development Manager to support the growth of its retail EPOS and software solutions across the UK. Swan Retail is part of the wider ClearCourse Group and provides integrated retail technology systems that combine EPOS, back-office management, omni-channel connectivity, loyalty tools, and embedded payments.

This role is focused on new business acquisition within the retail technology space. You will be responsible for identifying, engaging, and converting new retail customers across sectors such as fashion, furniture, beauty, homeware, and specialist retail. While marketing and SDR support are available, this is a proactive, high-performance sales role requiring strong initiative and a self-driven approach.

As a Business Development Manager, you will play a key role in expanding Swan Retail’s market presence. You will work closely with product, implementation, and leadership teams to ensure that new client relationships are built on strong commercial foundations and delivered smoothly from first contact through to onboarding. The role offers the opportunity to work within a mature but evolving SaaS product environment with strong internal investment and clear growth ambitions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Drive new business acquisition across targeted retail verticals including fashion, department stores, furniture, beauty, and homeware
  • Identify and develop new sales opportunities through networking, outreach, and structured campaigns
  • Manage the full sales lifecycle from lead generation through to negotiation and closing deals
  • Respond to RFPs and manage formal tender processes with accuracy and commercial awareness
  • Deliver product demonstrations and presentations to senior retail decision-makers
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with prospective clients and key stakeholders
  • Develop sales forecasts, pipeline reports, and revenue projections using CRM tools such as HubSpot
  • Collaborate closely with marketing, SDR, product, and implementation teams to support deal conversion
  • Maintain accurate pipeline management and activity tracking to meet quarterly targets
  • Contribute insights on market trends, competitor activity, and customer needs to support business strategy

Candidate Requirements

Required Skills & Experience

  • Proven experience in business development, sales, or account management within IT, SaaS, retail software, or technology solutions
  • Demonstrated success managing full sales cycles from prospecting to closing
  • Strong understanding of commercial sales processes, including RFP and tender management
  • Ability to build and maintain strong professional relationships with senior stakeholders
  • Excellent forecasting, pipeline management, and CRM usage (HubSpot preferred)
  • Strong communication, negotiation, and presentation skills
  • Highly organised, target-driven, and capable of working independently in a remote environment
