Remote Data Administrator Job at Tussell – London, UK

Tussell, a London-based tech scale-up specialising in UK government contract data, is hiring a Data Administrator to join its Data Operations team. The role is fully remote, with only occasional visits to the company's Hoxton office, and pays a starting salary of £32,000. It's a genuinely entry-friendly route into data operations — SQL and procurement experience are described as helpful but not required.

This role suits someone who enjoys structured, detail-heavy work and wants to build deep expertise in a specific niche over time, rather than using it as a stepping stone into data science or analytics.

About Tussell

Founded in 2015, Tussell is a founder-led, investor-backed tech scale-up based in London with a team of around 40 people. Its focus is being the definitive source of market intelligence on UK government contracts, helping companies make better commercial decisions when bidding for public work. The company grows primarily through customer sales rather than repeated funding rounds, and positions the transparency its data provides as a way of making public procurement more accountable and efficient.

What the Role Involves

  • Collecting, reviewing, cleaning, and uploading data from a wide range of sources, ensuring records accurately reflect the source data
  • Matching organisations and other entities across datasets, resolving duplicates and correctly connecting related data
  • Investigating missing, incomplete, or inaccurate data to improve coverage of the UK public procurement market
  • Processing new and updated data in a timely way, managing a queue of recurring tasks and keeping clear records of work and follow-ups
  • Supporting client data requests and data-quality projects, spotting recurring issues and suggesting practical improvements

The role uses Tussell's in-house processing application alongside Google Workspace and Microsoft 365.

Who Can Apply

  • Highly organised, reliable, and conscientious, with strong attention to detail
  • A quick, effective learner able to pick up new data, systems, and processes
  • Accurate and efficient, with good judgment about quality, impact, and pace
  • Curious and investigative when data doesn't look right
  • Comfortable working independently as well as within a supportive, communicative team
  • Confident using Google Workspace and Microsoft 365, particularly Google Sheets and Excel
  • Open to working with new systems, including AI and other emerging tools
  • SQL experience, familiarity with UK public-sector procurement, or experience with large datasets is helpful but not essential

Right to work: applicants must already have the right to work in the UK. Tussell states clearly that it is not able to offer visa sponsorship for this role.

Pay and Contract Details

  • Pay: £32,000 starting salary, reviewed each December after 12 months' service
  • Contract type: Permanent, full-time
  • Location: Fully remote, with 1–3 days per quarter at the Hoxton, London office
  • Application deadline: 16 October 2026 — applications are reviewed on a rolling basis, so early applications are encouraged as the role may close before the deadline

Benefits

  • Flexible remote working, with optional use of the Hoxton office
  • 25 days' annual leave (plus public holidays), rising by one day per year up to 30 days
  • £1,000 annual personal learning & development budget
  • £200 annual wellbeing budget (prorated)
  • Company pension with 3% employer contribution
  • Cycle to work scheme
  • Apple MacBook provided as standard
  • Free perks at the Hoxton office, including barista coffee and a subsidised gym
  • Fortnightly team drinks and regular socials

Recruitment Process

  1. Application review (CV plus two short written questions)
  2. First interview — remote, with the Data team
  3. Practical task reflecting the type of work involved
  4. Second interview — remote, with the Data team
  5. Final interview — in person, with a wider Tussell team member

How to Apply

Applications require a CV plus answers to two short questions about your interest in the role and in working with data. Given the rolling review process, applying early is worth doing rather than waiting for the deadline.
